MISSOURI RIVER VALLEY
The longest running river in America is the Missouri. At it's junction in St. Louis it is renamed the Mississippi and for God knows what reason? The valley it has created is breathtaking. carved millions of years ago from glacier flow it's bank are as wide as 5 miles in areas. When in 1802 Lewis and Clark paddled up West to its origins the river was more of a vast wetland than an actual river. The Army Corp. of Engineers has tried for many years to contain it's wild nature without success. It is historic, beautiful, quiet and a joy to follow.
